Primary Blog/The Secret to Stress Free Mornings

Do your mornings feel stressful and rushed? Are you constantly running late, skipping breakfast, and beginning your day feeling flustered?

If that sounds familiar, you aren't alone, especially if you're also trying to get kids ready for school and out the door.

However, just because you're not alone doesn't mean you must settle for crazy mornings.
Years ago, my mornings were just like that: crazy, flustered, and rushed. The morning's stress often strained my day and would carry through the entire day. And it drained me.

It wasn't serving my family or me, so one day, I committed to changing it, and I have never looked back.
Now, my mornings set a positive tone for my day. They never feel stressed and rarely feel rushed (I still have kids, IYKYK).

I love my mornings so much that I decided to share what I did to start my day in peace and calm so that you, too, can bring joy back to the best part of the day!

So, first things first. My biggest tip for a great morning starts the night before. Mornings tend to have a hard stop time because of school, work, etc. Evenings usually have more flexibility. Therefore, I ALWAYS plan for my morning ahead of time.

I get the coffee ready to go, so all that's left is to turn it on.

I make kids' lunches while cooking dinner or cleaning up the kitchen. If you take lunch to work, take this time to make yours, too.

I have my kids lay their clothes out, and I do the same.

These simple and often quick-to-do tasks take up almost no time if done the night ahead but somehow take forever in the morning.

The second thing I have done to create a peaceful morning is to adjust my bedtime. I know some of you, especially with little kids, like to stay up later for alone time. However, sleep is invaluable and essential to your health. If getting in bed earlier than usual is challenging, try getting a fun novel and leaving it on your bedside; read for 10-15 minutes, then shut the lights off. Easy reading promotes relaxation and sleep and gets your mind off the day.

When I started my process of easing the mornings, I began to go to bed earlier myself. Hello, you can actually enjoy hot coffee! Getting in bed early (I like to be in bed by 9 pm) allows me to get a full night of sleep and get up BEFORE kids in the morning.

Morning quiet time is way more glorious than nighttime. This time in the morning allows me to read, journal, meditate, and start my day centered and calm rather than getting up when all the chaos begins.

And lastly, I have created the habit of getting out of bed early, cherishing that alone time. By getting up at least 45-60 minutes earlier than usual, you will be able to enjoy your morning and ease into the day instead of feeling stressed and rushed. You can do everything right the night before, but if you continue to hit the snooze button, you will miss out on the magic of the morning.
